Step 1:

Ok, now that your TCP/IP is setup, you need to install good old IPX. To do this, you nwws to click on the "Add..." button, outlined in the infamous green.
Step 2:

Now you should see a familiar little window pop open again. Left click on the text that says "Protocol", to highlight it in blue, like my screen shot. When "Protocol" is highlighted, press the "Add" button, outlined in green.
Step 3:

This window should also be familiar to you. We again want to highlight "Microsoft" under the "Manufaturers:" section on the left. Once that is done, click on "IPX/SPX - compatable Protocol" on the right hand side (it should be first on the list of 5 items). Your screen should look like the screen shot to the left. Now click on the "OK" button denoted by the green box.
Step 4:

If you did those steps right, you should see an "IPX/SPX - compatable Protocol" above the "TCP/IP". Again, if you have a modem installed, the IPX protocol will appear for both your ethernet card AND your modem. You do NOT want IPX on your modem, at LAN parties a modem is evil and slow. So what we need to do is highlight the "IPX/SPX - compatable Protocol" option that is set for your modem, by left clicking it with your mouse on the text. Then hit the "Remove" button. Then you are good to go on to the last section. Remember, do NOT, I repeat do NOT, hit the ok button or close the Network window!
